14 – 18 July

An official delegation of the Supreme Court of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, headed by the Honourable Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, visited Russia.

During the stay in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg, the delegation had meetings with Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Lebedev, President of the Commercial Court of Moscow Nikolay Novikov, President of Saint Petersburg City Court Aleksey Lakov and the senior professors of the Russian State University of Justice.

During the meetings, the parties exchanged experience in regard of organization and work of the court systems, in particular the introduction of IT in court proceedings, development of e-justice and cooperation with the mass media.

Summing up the visit, the two Chief Justices stressed the positive development of relations between the respective judiciaries and their interest in further joint activities.


22 – 25 July

Chief Justice Lebedev visited the Republic of Nepal at the invitation of the country’s Supreme Court.

During the visit, the Russian delegation was received by the Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli, the Chief Justice of Nepal Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana and Attorney General Agni Prasad Kharel.

The parties believe that this visit became an important stage in the development and strengthening of ties between the top judicial bodies of Russia and Nepal.


29 July

A meeting took place between Chief Justice Lebedev and Maikel Jose Moreno Perez, President of the Supreme Court of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, who was in Moscow on a working visit.

Issues of functioning and reforming of judicial systems of Russia and Venezuela were discussed during the meeting.


12 August

Justice Igor Krupnov, head of a panel of judges of the Judicial Chamber for Cases of the Military, met with a delegation of the Military Court of the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China, headed by its Deputy President, Rear Admiral Cheng Dongfang, on a working visit to Russia.


27 August

Vasily Nechaev, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and Chair of the Judicial Chamber for Civil Cases, met with Frits Bontekoe, Legal Counsel of the World Intellectual Property Organization, who was invited to Russia by the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent).

The parties discussed cooperation between WIPO and the Russian Supreme Court, participation of the Court’s representatives in WIPO’s events, as well as common approaches in the sphere of IPR protection.


27 August

Vladimir Davydov, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and Chair of the Judicial Chamber for Criminal Cases, met with a delegation of Tokyo Bar Association, on their visit to Moscow to study the Russian legal system.


2 – 5 September

Vladimir Popov, Justice of the Judicial Chamber on Civil Cases, participated in the 14th Session of WIPO’s Advisory Committee on Enforcement, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland. During the event, Justice Popov made a presentation dedicated to issues of court protection of intellectual property in the Russian Federation.


6 September

Chief Justice Lebedev received a delegation of the Supreme People’s Court of the Republic of Cuba, headed by the court president, Ruben Remigio Ferro.

The Cuban counterpart informed about the ongoing legal reforms on Cuba, the place and role of the top judicial body in the newly adopted constitution.

The two sides also exchanged opinions on such topics as implementation of modern technologies into judicial proceedings and the best practices in the further training of judges.


11 – 14 September

A Conference of the Chief Justices of the Supreme Courts of the Council of Europe Member States took place in Paris, France.

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation was represented by Tatiana Petrova, Deputy Chief Justice and Chair of the Judicial Chamber for Administrative Cases.


16 – 19 September

Justice Anatoly Pershutov visited Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, to attend the 14th annual session of the International Association for Judicial Administration, held jointly with the International Justice Forum organised under the auspices of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan.


18 – 20 September

Natalia Pavlova, Justice of the Judicial Chamber for Economic Disputes, attended an international conference in Minsk, Belarus, titled “Five Years of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union: the Role of the Court”.


22 – 28 September

A delegation of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Peru, headed by Justice Javier Arevalo Vela, visited Russia.

During the stay, the delegation members were received at the Russian Supreme Court, the Judicial Department at the Supreme Court, met with senior representatives of the Constitutional Court, Prosecutor General’s Office, of the Commercial Court of Moscow and Saint Petersburg City Court.


10 October

Chief Justice Lebedev received a group of Cuban judges undergoing their study placement at the Russian State University of Justice. During the meeting, the Chief Justice informed the guests about the activities of Russian courts of general jurisdiction.


22 – 27 October

First Deputy Chief Justice Pyotr Serkov and Head of the IT Department Sergey Kryukov visited Brasília, Brazil, to attend a seminar of BRICS Supreme Courts dedicated to the use of IT in the judicial system.


24 October

Deputy Chief Justice Vladimir Davydov met with a delegation from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, headed by Tran Quoc Cuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the main directions of activities of the Russian Supreme Court, the powers and goals of the Judicial Chamber for Criminal Cases, the specific features of criminal proceedings in Russia.


27 – 30 October

Leipzig, Germany, became the venue of the 17th Russian-German Dialog of Judges, an event regularly hosted by Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Federal Republic of Germany).

The Russian Supreme Court was represented at the conference by Deputy Chief Justice and Chair of the Disciplinary Chamber Sergey Rudakov, Justice Sergey Kirillov from the Judicial Chamber for Civil Cases and Justice Aleksandr Voronov from the Judicial Chamber for Cases of the Military.

During the event, Deputy Chief Justice Rudakov made a speech titled “Justice under Pressure of Social Media. Independence of the Russian Judiciary as a Foundation of the Rule of Law”.


11 – 14 November

Justice Vladimir Popov visited Yerevan, Armenia, to attend the “Anti-Counterfeit – 2019” International Forum, an annual event held in various member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union on a rotation basis, with the support of the Eurasian Economic Commission.


12 – 16 November

Ramziya Khatypova, Justice of the Judicial Chamber for Economic Disputes, took part in WIPO Intellectual Property Judges Forum in Geneva, Switzerland. The event is an international venue that stimulates an open dialogue among the judges regarding the rising trends in the sphere of IP.


1 – 6 December

Ivan Razumov, head of a panel of judges of the Judicial Chamber for Economic Disputes, visited Vienna, Austria, to participate in the 56th session of UNCITRAL’s Working Group V (Insolvency Law).


1 – 7 December

GRECO, an international organisation created by the Council of Europe to help its member states combat corruption, held its 84th plenary session in Strasbourg, France. Justice Vladimir Popov participated in the event.


2 – 6 December

Justice Igor Krupnov visited Wuzhen, China, to participate in the World Forum on Rule of Law in the Internet, making a presentation titled “Protection of Rights in the Digital Age”.
